A Lutron system should keep working for decades, and some of our installations from decades ago still run without fuss. When something does go wrong, there's nearly always one specific cause. Finding it is the job.
Lutron hardware rarely fails. When a system disappoints, it's usually down to how it was set up: scenes that never matched how the house is used, dimming never set for the lamps actually fitted, or buttons that don't do what the engraving says.
We put that right room by room. If the existing programming is good, we keep it and build on it. If not, we rewrite it properly.
Your system, what it's doing and when it started. Photos help.
On site, we work through the system methodically rather than guessing.
What's wrong, what it will take to fix, and the options where there's a choice.
We test the whole system, not just the part that failed.
It's the quickest way for us to understand what you have. Photograph a few keypads or switches, and any control panels or dimmer racks (often in a cupboard, loft or plant room).
Email them to info@futurelightdesign.co.uk with your postcode and a line on what isn't working and we'll call you back.
Many Lutron systems outlive the company that installed them. If someone else installed yours, we can adopt it. We survey the system, recover the programming where we can or rebuild it where we can't, and look after it from then on.
Older dimmers were built for halogen lamps, which draw plenty of power and hide small electrical wobbles. LEDs draw a fraction of the power and react instantly, so the same dimmer can't run them smoothly. The result is flicker, buzzing, a faint glow when switched off, or lights that jump on at the bottom of the range.
It's nearly always fixable without starting again. Depending on the system, we reset the dimming room by room, add a small module to steady the load, replace the dimmer or transformer with one designed for LED, or recommend lamps tested with your dimmers.
For systems we've installed or adopted, we offer contracts with scheduled visits, system health checks and priority response.
Yes. HomeWorks QSX and RA3 systems can be set up for remote access. That lets us monitor the system, diagnose faults and make programming changes, often without a visit.
Current Lutron residential systems, HomeWorks QSX and RA3, and older systems including Grafik Eye, HomeWorks Interactive, Illumination and QS, and the original RadioRA.
Call or email with your system and what it's doing. Photos of a few keypads, and of any control panels or dimmer racks (often in a cupboard, loft or plant room), help us understand it quickly. Include your postcode and we'll take it from there.
